MICHELLE

GET TO KNOW

My Story

Michelle was one of those kids who was talking about horses as soon as she was talking. Growing up in the San Diego/Poway area, she started riding at 10 years old. She tried various disciplines and rode throughout high school. After moving to Los Angeles, Michelle happened upon Jane McCloud, a staple in the Los Angeles Dressage Community. Michelle rode for Jane for years and when Jane passed away in May 2023, Michelle took over and began her own journey with Reflection Dressage.

MICHELLE CLARKE

Michelle has created her own program, following in Jane's footsteps. She sticks to the "No gimmicks" teaching she received from Jane. Always continuing, her education, Michelle is constantly improving her riding and teaching to benefit everyone who comes to Reflection Dressage.

JANE'S LEGACY

Jane McCloud devoted her life to horses. Her solution was always "Just get on ond ride". She competed successfully in Jumping and Dressage in her younger years and spent her later years teaching students and riding her beloved mares. Jane believed in the classical principles, taking inspiration from the old masters.

This is one of her mares, Pammy. The duo showed through Prix St. George successfully.

Review from Hannah E:

Michelle is an excellent instructor. She is knowledgeable, personable, and professional. I especially appreciate her commitment to prioritizing rider safety and the well-being of the horses. Lessons with her are a perfect blend of enjoyment, challenge, and education. Michelle's communication is very clear and effective. If something ever doesn't make sense, she's great at providing alternative explanations. I'm so pleased with the progress I continue to make under Michelle's instruction. Even within the first few weeks of riding with her, I felt significant improvement in my competence as a rider.

I highly recommend Michelle to anyone looking to build a strong foundation in dressage or to simply become a better, more well-rounded rider!
